Braves live...

Watching the Atlanta Braves versus Milwaukee Brewers right now and it is the bottom of the first with the Braves up 1-0. Braves got that run with an RBI double by third baseman Chipper Jones, driving in left fielder Martin Prado, who started the game with a double himself. But as this game is being played out, I am going to talk a bit about the Braves season so far, which is only five games. But I've seen some good things and bad things so far. The Braves are 3-2, and sit in the middle of the pack in the National League East, in third place behind both the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies. But the season is early, and how things can change quickly.

Some good points for the team is that the Braves lead the league in total defense, and have one of the best bullpen's in the league as well. Starting pitchers have done well so far, pitching late into the games, and giving it over to the bullpen, and letting them close it out. Reliever Peter Moylan leads the team in appearances last year, and has not disappointed this year either.

The Braves hitting has been the same as last year, up and down. With so much power in the lineup, some games the team has connected on everything, and some games it seems you could throw a basketball to the plate and they still couldn't hit it. Braves do lead the league in hitting with runners in scoring position, hitting .467. Jones is staying healthy, and is playing very well. Heres hoping rookie first baseman Freddie Freeman gets on track, he is 0-9 versus right handed hitters. Once he gets going and connects on some swings, there will be a little more pop in the lineup.

I know this season is young, and I shouldn't be worried about the team so far. But I do see some signs on this team like I've seen in teams from the past. But by no means am I going to stop pulling for them. I want to keep cheering for them way into October, or should I say November. Seems as if the World Series is now played well into the November chill. GO BRAVES!!!
