Slumping braves...

Runs are sparse for the Atlanta Braves the last few weeks. And the hitting is coming few and far between when runners are in scoring position. The Braves are not having trouble getting runners on base. The Braves are coming up short when they have a runner on each base. As of last night, Friday, May 27, the Braves are hitting .242. In my humble opinion, if the Braves just relaxed and stop pressing at every pitch, the hitting and runs will start to come. They are looking for certain pitches and not letting the ball just come to them. Last night was second baseman Dan Uggla's first RBI that didn't come from a homerun when Uggla hit it deep to left center field for a sacrifice run that was the Braves only run of the night, losing 1-5 to the Cincinnati Reds at Turner Field. Uggla is one Brave that is struggling at the plate as well in the field. The hits will come for Uggla. As I mentioned before, he needs to stop focusing on certain pitches, and needs to just let the pitches come to him. Any player in the league is going to have a lot of strikeouts and a lot of groud outs if they only go after certain pitches.

I know I don't have a lot of people that read this blog. This blog is really for me, to help me in my writing skills so I can move forward in my writing and move to bigger and better writings. But if you are reading this and do not believe what I am saying, this is just my opinion in what I'm seeing from watching the team this season.

Another thing that I don't see is the fire under Manager Freddi Gonzalez that I saw under Bobby Cox. Yes, I know, Gonzalez is not Cox. I support Gonzalez, and think he is the best man for this job, and I think he is only going to get better as manager in Atlanta. Guess I got spoiled with Cox under the reigns, but get a little mad Gonzalez.

And I know, it only takes one hit, or one good play in the field to turn everything around and get this team rolling again. The Braves are in third place in the NL East with a 28-24 record. It's going to take a lot to overcome the first place Phillies (32-19) and even the second place Marlins (29-20). But it can be done. Braves need to relax and let the pitches and fielding come to them, and stop pressing.
