Trufant Atlanta bound...

The 2013 NFL Draft settled in last night for the first of three nights. The Atlanta Falcons came into last night's round with the 30th overall pick. The team had 11 picks in the draft as they traded two of those picks (3rd, 6th) as well as swapping their first round pick with the St. Louis Rams to move up eight spots to draft University of Washington cornerback Desmond Trufant at 22.

I don't know much about Trufant because it's hard to follow a lot of football from the northwest. But I will trust Falcon's General Manager Thomas Dimitroff because the team needed a corner  after releasing Dunta Robinson, who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. Trufant will fight and will probably be penciled in for the starting cornerback position alongside corner Asante Samuel. It will be his position to lose because of where he was drafted and the money he is going to assume. With the draft of Trufant, the Falcons will likely move Robert McClain to the nickel and leave Samuel and Trufant on the outside.

Only time will tell how Trufant and the other Falcon's draftees later this weekend will do. But there is one thing I do know, Falcons should stack up on defensive players as the offensive side of the ball is set except for maybe depth.
