Together we stand...

World War II Memorial with Washington Monument in background/ Photo Jon Charest
So I couldn't let this day pass without giving tribute to all the veterans of this great country that we live in. All the past and present military that has fought so hard for the freedom of this great land that we live in. I salute all of you and say thank you!!! Had a chance to visit Washington DC this past summer with my wife, and we had a chance to visit all the war memorials. What stuck out to me the most were the Korean War Memorial and the World War II Memorial (picture above). And the reason is because both of my grandfathers fought in these wars. Being at the WWII Memorial, I stood in awe, as it brought back memories of one of my grandfathers telling me stories of him and his fellow soldiers storming the beaches of Normandy. All the memorials are great, and even the Vietnam Memorial is so inspiring, but the WWII Memorial kind of hit home. When you are there, one side is all the wars fought on the Atlantic side, and the other is the Pacific side. In the middle is the fountain pool, and surrounding the pool are individual pillars with each state engraved at the bottom.

All the memorials are a must see if you are ever in the DC area. I know this isn't a sports related story, but I just had to write a little about how proud I am to be an American. God Bless You, and God Bless AMERICA!!!
