Was listening to the Atlanta late local news last night, and the sports report came on. There was a short piece on if the lockout would end today, the league might be proposing an eight game season. Come on, seriously. That doesn't even get the players warmed up. Not to mention a one game preseason game. Not sure if they meant a nine game season with one preseason game or eight games, which includes one preseason game.
If the lockout is settled by the end of this month, it was mentioned that with all the catchup that has to be done, the season might not start until close to end of September or early October. Of course, this would not be a true NFL season in my opinion. If this is what happens, will the team that wins the Super Bowl really be the legitimate champions for this year? There will always be the debate for years and years to come comparing this years Super Bowl team to all the other teams that played the full 16 games plus the playoff games. How would this year's team stack up against all the other teams. If this is what happens for this year, at least there will be football. It's funny because the NFL season this year would basically be as long as college football this year.
