So, what was this secret meeting that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, NFLPA rep Maurice Smith, and a few NFL owners had on Wednesday night? This meeting that no one knew about, was held in Chicago, two days before all sides are suppose to meet in St. Louis to try to hash out an aggreement.
In my opinion, I hope both sides are getting tired of all this back and forth mess, and just wanting to get down to an agreement. Maybe both sides are coming together, and not wanting to get all the courts involved, and are trying to come to an agreement.
It's getting too close to training camp, which is suppose to open for every team at the end of July. Teams have already missed OTA's, minicamps, and just being around their team headquarters. The good news is that all these players are coming together on their own as a team and working out without all the coaches and all the organization that comes with a team organized practice.
Rookies are going to have a lot of catching up to do, and are going to be a little behind for not being at headquarters all this time. But not their fault.
I don't believe the strike will last through the season, and an agreement will get done. But I have heard rumors that if the strike lasts into the season, college football could expand some of their games on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. This would definitely be good!!!! To offset the games that will not be played by the NFL on Sunday, college football would play on Sunday. And hopefully have a Monday night game too. The awesome thing about college sports is that they play for the love of the game. Though there are rule violations, and teams are placed on probation, but no strikes. There will always be games played, and when it comes to football, that is a great thing. Not sure what I would do if I couldn't watch both college and the NFL. Guess I would spend more time with my family. I do that anyways. Sports is just an out for me to get away for a few hours.
