New Stadium will get done...

There has been plenty of talk over the past few weeks of the new Falcons' stadium, and where it is going to be built. Falcons CEO and owner Arthur Blank would ideally want to build the the new stadium in downtown Atlanta where getting to and from the stadium would be great for public transportation, but parking is at a minimal.

But in recent days the Atlanta city council and the Falcons organization have been at odds on how to pay for the stadium using public funds. The want a $1 billion stadium where they are willing to put up $8 million. The initial talks were for the remainder to come from hotel/motel tax within Atlanta. A lot of people have been upset about this. I might have mentioned this in another post, but why should Atlanta residents worry about this, they live in Atlanta. No need to worry about this tax. Outsiders that visit Atlanta might not even notice the tax on their final bill. But along with the new stadium, people want to know how it will help them, will it better their neighborhoods, and clean up any areas that need cleaning up. And sound barriers are needed to quiet the neighborhoods from all the noise. Sound barriers i see is a logical request. I believe Blank is a fair man, and he will do what's right for the people and the city of Atlanta. What people need to realize is the amount of money that the new stadium will bring to metro Atlanta. This incoming money will truly offset the costs that it took to build it. But in the end, no matter where it's built, if you build it, they will still come.

Also, the last couple of days we have been hearing on the new of two new sites if not downtown. The first site south of downtown next to the Atlanta Airport. All I can say is "NO." Not an ideal location. Public transportation runs that way, but the way it runs is to the airport. This would disrupt airport traffic with parking and public transportation. The second site is the most ideal if not downtown. Why not build it close to the Falcons headquarters? Seems logical to me. It would not be congested because there is a lot of open space in Flowery Branch, Ga. Parking would be ideal and close to headquarters. The only problem would be public transportation, no trains or buses run that way. But with plenty of parking, public transportation might not be needed as much.

So with the offseason in full bloom, players are resting and the management of the organization is hard at work preparing for the upcoming draft and seeking out best options for the new stadium. The stadium project will get done.
