End of an era...

For the past 14 seasons there was never a doubt of who was the general of the offensive line for the Atlanta Falcons, but there will be for next season. Long time center Todd McClure is calling it quits after spending his entire career with the Falcons. The LSU alum, drafted in the seventh round of the 1999 draft, debated hanging up his cleats after the 2011 season, but wanted to give it one more go because he saw the potential that the 2012 team had. But that potential fell short after the San Francisco 49ers downed the Falcons in the NFC Championship game 28-24 at the Georgia Dome this past January.

According to some teammates, McClure was really down after the San Francisco game, and he decided earlier this week that it was enough. McClure has had a great career in helping gel the offensive line and becoming one of the leaders on the team. McClure never earned a trip to Hawaii, but if it had been up to his teammates, he would have made more than a few trips across the pacific.
