Wow how this season has just flown by. We are already at game number 12 with five games remaining. The Atlanta Falcons (10-1) took care of business this past Sunday in Tampa as they downed the Buccaneers (6-5) 24-23. But the game wasn't easy. Kicker Matt Bryant missed two FG's (22 &48) yards. And the person most upset about that would be him. He doesn't miss many. And why is it that when the Falcons beat teams around the league, especially in the rival NFC South, they cry fowl. But when the Falcons lose, this year and in years past, they are professional about it, and look forward to prepare for the next game. Some Bucs players were interviewed after the game saying we are a good team, and the Falcons are a bad team with a good record. This just doesn't make since. These players make ten times more money than I will ever see. Get over it and act your age. But I know it's all about entertainment these days, and the media is all over these stories. Another story that is going to bleed is the story of the Saints players arivving at Atlanta Airport yesterday. As the bus was pulling away from the tarmac, Atlanta workers egged the bus. So I can see it now, how all the Saints players are going to cry fowl. Yes, the act by the Atlanta workers was uncalled for, this is just how much the Atlanta Fans hate the Saints and their fans. I imagine the New Orleans fans do worse. I know that Oakland, Green Bay, and NY Jets and NY Giants fans do a lot worse as well.
And that leads me to this upcoming game that is tonight at the Georgia Dome as the Falcons host hated rival New Orleans Saints. Former Falcon and current Saint LB Curtis Lofton keeps on saying the Falcons are not the Saints rival, but just another division game. Hmmm...Hello, the Falcons are not the Saints little brothers, and if I recall, you are partly the reason why the Falcons have lost to the Saints the past 11 out of 13 games. Any yes, this is a rival dating back way before I was ever born.
So tonight is a big game for the Falcons. A win means they improve to 11-1, and still hold the key throughout the playoffs as the #1 seed. If the Falcons win, they at least clinch a tie for the NFL South. Then if the Denver Broncos beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Falcons will win the South.
So lets wrap this up Atlanta Falcons. A win means we are more than likely in. Lets do this for the city and the state of Georgia. Kickoff is set for 8:20 pm est on NFL Network. RISE UP Atlanta!!!!
