Braves Country with a little bit of Old School...

So staying on the same theme of uniform changes, but lets just change the sport. Across the I-75/85 connector the Atlanta Braves are about to start their 2012 campaign. Hopefully a better start to the year than the way they ended last season. Braves were seven games up in the wild card race with a month left in the season, and lost 20 out of the remaining 30 games and never made the playoffs. But along with the new season brings a new change in their home uniforms. On Monday through Thursday home games the Braves will wear their regular home uniforms. On Fridays the team will wear their alternate red jersey, the same jersey they wore on Sundays last year. So the change being on Saturday and Sunday home games. The team will turn the clock back to 1966, the inaugural season for the Atlanta Braves. Prior to Atlanta, the Braves played ball in Milwaukee from 1953-1965. On home weekend games, the Braves will be sporting the uniforms the team wore back in 1966.If you look closely the only difference in the current home jersey and the alternate home jersey is the current home jersey has the tomahawk and no number in the front and the alternative home jersey has no tomahawk and has the number in front. Also, the current home jersey is white and the alternate home jersey is cream color. To me, kind of makes it old school. Just like when I was talking about the NFL uniforms, I'm old school and like the throwbacks that the NFL teams wore.

So I'm getting a little excited about the baseball season about to start. Just hope this season has a better ending and the Braves make the playoffs and compete for a second World Series Title. It's going to be a fight throughout the season, and not come easy. As we all know 3B Chipper Jones is hanging up his cleats at season's end. I just hope he can last the entire campaign. Going into spring training all we heard was that Chipper feels great, the greatest he has felt in years, then he's hobbled by his knee yet again, and has to go under the knife once again. He has stated he should be ready to go by the home opener against the Milwaukee Brewers on April 13. Let's hope that remains true. Chipper has been nothing but GREAT for this organization. He is a southern boy and couldn't have thought of any other team to play for. Be looking for his number to be retired one day at Turner Field, and possible his name in Canton one day. Thanks for serving Braves Country with respect.
