NFL owners say yes, except...

Okay, this is funny stuff. All 32 NFL owners voted 'yes' last night in Atlanta to ratify the lockout and get the players back to work starting this weekend. But the funny part about it is there was an unanimous vote of yes, but not from 32 team owners, but 31. I thought the lone owner that didn't vote was New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who is mourning the loss of his wife. But he sent in his vote, probably through e-mail or text, if he wasn't there last night. But the vote that wasn't cast came from the Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis. But I was watching NFL Network last night, and they reported a source that was asked about this, that the Raiders were just being the Raiders. The Raiders are a different type of breed , if you ask me. According to the Raiders, they had differences with the politics and economics of the new deal. Maybe Davis thought since 24 of 32 owners have to agree to ratify the deal, that his vote didn't really count.

So what was suppose to happen last night after the owners voted, and it still did, was a conference call between the league and all 32 player reps. Everyone was hoping that a vote would come from the players last night. But it never did. I wasn't as confident that a vote would be made by the players because first of all, they hadn't received the entire document, and when they did, it was after the conference call. To my knowledge, the players wanted to digest it, and sleep on the decision that the owners made. Chris Mortensen reported this morning that the players should vote today. I hope this is true, and they have had time to look over all 500 pages last night. But the NFL is giving the players until this Tuesday to vote on the deal. I think that is enough time for any issues to get resolved and for the players to vote.

I'm just sitting back, relaxed, and know that the players will get a deal done soon.
