Even though Atlanta is viewed upon and voted one of the worst sports cities in the country, yesterday, March 7, there were many accolades given out to sports in Atlanta. Even with a sobbering way to end the 2010 season with a loss to Green Bay, the Atlanta Falcons were voted the Team of the Year for the city of Atlanta sports franchises. Head coach Mike Smith was named Coach of the Year, and pro Bowl receiver Roddy White took home the award for Professional Athlete of the Year.
The Atlanta Falcons ended the regular season 13-3. Things are looking for the franchise that had never had back to back winning seasons until the new regime of Smith and company took over in 2008. Under Smith, the team has accomplished three consecutive winning seasons.
Keep up the good work Falcons, but you still have along way to catch cross town Atlanta Braves.
