So lets turn the clock back to 2007, the Atlanta Falcons had just fired Jim Mora, Jr. and the search was on to see who would lead the Atlanta Falcons into battle that coming season. In walks Bobby Petrino, head coach of then University of Louisville. So as I went to bed that night, I remember the Falcons being without a coach. Next morning when I awoke, Bobby Petrino head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. So I was excited because Petrino had an awesome, high powered offense in Louisville, that I thought spread the receivers out wide, and our offense will be unstoppable. And then, that's where my excitement ended. Falcons draft DE from Arkansas Jamaal Anderson that year, bust!!! Who's no longer on the team. But that is where the story grew. That offseason before the 2007 regular season is when Michael Vick was sent to Leavenworth. It all started to fall apart there when word came out that Petrino just up and left the Cardinals program for life in the NFL. STRIKE ONE!!!! So eventually it was heard that Petrino was so excited to coach Vick, that when Vick was sent to prison, the air went out of his desire to coach the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons suffered through a 3-13 season where Joey Harrington started under center. Harrington was an all-American standout at Oregon, but just never really had the arm strength for the NFL game. Falcons were 3-9 heading into the Monday night showdown with the New Orleans Saints at the Georgia Dome. But that night not only with a loss to the NFC South rival, but that was Petrino's last night as the Falcons coach. Just like a thief in the night, Petrino left Atlanta that night and the only thing that Atlanta owner Arthur Blank, the team, and the fans could do was shake their heads in dismay. STRIKE TWO!!!! But for the Falcons organization now looking back, was the best thing that could have happened. Four years later, and four straight winning seasons under Coach Mike Smith.
So just like I did earlier in the year, I went to bed with no lead man for the Falcons, and woke up to Petrino in hog heaven to coach the Arkansas Razorbacks. Petrino knew what he was doing all along. To be honest, Petrino will always be a better coach in college than NFL. So back to the winning ways that he was familiar with as he has turned the razorback nation around, until a couple days ago. And this is where stupidity and karma take control. Petrino was riding without a helmet on his motorcycle in Arkansas when he had a one vehicle accident. As you can see from the photo above, he was messed up badly. So it has come to light that his selfishness has come back to haunt him once again. Not only did he have the accident, but he wasn't riding alone. Sitting behind him was 25 year-old Jessica Dorrell, an assistant to him on the football team. Dorrell was also a former volleyball standout. Petrino, married, father of four, is not using any of the brain cells that he has left, and having an inappropriate relationship with someone half his age. Not cool at all!!!! Petrino has stated in his press conference that he will take full responsibility of this situation. Well, of course you will. You dug yourself into this mess, and you are going to have to live with the consequences. STRIKE THREE YOUR OUT!!! Petrino is on paid administrative leave while Athletic Director Jeff Long looks more into this matter. The matter is, is Petrino's job and career are in jeopardy. Petrino has treated Louisville, the Falcons, Arkansas, and most importantly his family wrong. If I was Long, I would just part ways with Petrino and look elsewhere for next year. Petrino can't be trusted and karma has come back to strike him pretty hard.
