Even in my defeat...

By: Mark A. Kirkley

After I sit back and let the loss to the New Orleans Saints last Monday night sink in, I have to look at the big picture and just say WOW!!! For a record that stood for 27 years, New Orleans QB Drew Brees surpassed the Miami Dolphins QB Dan Marino's single season passing record by three yards with 5,087 yards. Brees earned the top spot for that record by accumulating 307 yards in the win against my beloved Atlanta Falcons last Monday night on the New Orleans Network, otherwise known as ESPN.

All sports networks just need to realize and be fair to both teams. As fans, it seems a lot of the times the announcing is one sided for one team. Don't get me wrong now, because I would even say it would be wrong if the announcing was one sided in the Falcon's favor. Just need to give both teams their due respect.

But back to Brees, his record is awesome. But it might not stand for too long with quarterbacks with the likes of NE QB Tom Brady and GB QB Aaron Rodgers. I even have to put in ATL QB Matt Ryan in the mix as well. In his fourth season, he has already gone over the 4,000 yard mark. The NFL has turned into a passing league, and time will tell just how high this record can go.
