Suh was named NFL's dirtiest player: Photo/AP |
A suspension of two games without pay is what he gets. Apparently, enough was enough. At least that is what Commissioner Roger Goodell thought when Detroit Lions DL Ndamukong Suh called him for the second time in many weeks yesterday (Monday), to apologize for stomping on the head of offensive lineman
Evan Dietrich-Smith of the Green Bay Packers during the Thanksgiving game that the Packers won 27-15. Suh was ejected from the game, which to me, was exactly what should have been done. A similar instance happened in week seven against the Atlanta Falcons as Suh sacked Atlanta QB Matt Ryan. As Ryan lay on the Ford Field turf in obvious pain, Suh was heard saying it's karma, get him off the field, bring the cart, he's done. So my question at that time was, what is he done for, what karma does Ryan deserve as he is in pain? Karma for playing the game the way he is suppose too, Ryan that is. Ryan came back into the game a couple plays later. The karma for the Falcons is they went on to win the game 23-16. Exactly what needed to be done. And after that game a meeting between the commish and Suh was arranged due to the actions from the Atlanta game. Now I don't know what was said between the two, but I imaging Goodell told him if it happens again, more severe consequences would arise. Obviously, the words of Goodell didn't sink into far enough into Suh's head.
I know losing two game checks is not going to break Suh's bank, but hopefully now he gets the hint. Or maybe he won't. Maybe he is the type of player that just doesn't care. It seems to me that he is all apologies during the week, and when its game time, he wants to hurt people. Yes, it's not flag football, but you don't want to have the mentality of hurting the opponent. Play the game within the game, the way it is suppose to be played, to win, and not put your team in penalties and you suspensions. Watching the Thanksgiving game, not saying the Lions would have won if Suh would have remained in the game. But the Lions had the momentum before Suh was ejected. After the ejection, the Pack began rolling on to their 11th victory of season.
Players will catch on to Suh's little game he is pulling on how sorry he is during the week, and then his temper flares up at game time. Players will not tolerate that and will begin to eventually shut him down as a player to where Suh becomes a non factor during the game.
